What a day to travel outstation on! It is Friday the 13th today... Usually, I don't buy into the hype about it.. but since I couldn't escape my impending fate of driving to Ipoh, it was beginning to make sense. Haha! Not only did I have to drive to Ipoh, my boss also wanted me to go to Sitiawan AND Teluk Intan! I died a little bit upon hearing that direct order from the boss from Hell! :P
Well, okay... so I didn't know how to get to Sitiawan.... I didn't know whether or not I would be able to find the Sitiawan exit on the highway either. While I was driving upnorth, I called all the people I could think of who are/were from Perak. Some told me they don't know how to get to Sitiawan while one told me I should exit at Batu Gajah (pls note that Batu Gajah's exit is nearer to KL than the Ipoh exit) and another said exit at Ipoh cuz Ipoh is very near my destination. Oh well, who should I listen to? Nvm, so I got into Ipoh town and I followed signboards to Lumut and then I would be able to find the Sitiawan signboard, according to Christine. And who knew? I ended up going downsouth again cuz I passed by Batu Gajah on my way to Sitiawan from Ipoh town. Very funny! Is this someone's crazy & cruel idea of a sick joke?! Well, to cut the long story short, it was very unnerving to drive in an unknown place without knowing how to get to your destination. To make matters worse, it even rained (as if the haze wasn't bad enough oredi!).
But thankfully, I found my way safely to Sitiawan and met the customer that I'd been assigned to meet, Dr. Yeak Lek Chong. I'd say the meeting went went cuz he said I could bring in the ultrasound demo anytime. And also, thank God that I was able to find my way to Teluk Intan from Sitiawan (thank you roadsigns). The journey there was quite relaxing and pleasing as I was enjoying the breathtaking view of the vast paddy fields and baby palm oil plantations. Plus, the haze surrounding the area made the place looked so mysterious yet calm.
Had lunch in Teluk Intan. Luckily the folks here spoke Cantonese. I got the directions to Dr. Rajindar Singh's clinic (everybody knows everybody in a small town, hehe) but the doc wasn't around. Juz my luck on Friday the 13th! So I wasted no time and drove back up to Ipoh. I desperately couldn't find the highway (no green signnoards, only blue ones... alot of blue ones) so I drove back up to Ipoh via trunk road. Hated the bumpy ride... oh my poor, poor car! Was so tired by the time I reached Dr. Ranjoth Singh's clinic in Fair Park, Ipoh. You know what? I slept on one of his patient beds there, LOL! He caught me in the act and said that I could continue sleeping and said his nurses wouldn't disturb me when I was resting and then drew the curtains so that I would have my privacy while sleeping. So sweet & kind of him! Hehe! I felt so embarrassed but I was too tired I couldn't care. I had been driving for so many hours, going to various towns. Plus, I needed rest cuz i would be driving back to KL after that. Below is the pic I took of myself after I forced myself by splashing cold water on my face to wake up after half an hour... was looking so bored. I drove back home after the doctor told me to give him a little bit more time to consider the system. Oh well, that was all in a day's work! A very long day indeed!
